By accessing and using Steno ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement.

Steno is a dictation application that uses artificial intelligence to transcribe audio into text. The Service processes audio recordings, converts them to text, and optionally types the text into active applications.

To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate information, maintain the security of your password, accept responsibility for activities under your account, and notify us of any unauthorized use.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to violate laws, infringe others' rights, transmit harmful or illegal content, gain unauthorized access, interfere with the Service, or use it for unauthorized commercial purposes.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its content, features, and functionality, is owned by Hey Steno and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of content you create (recordings, transcriptions, notes). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, process, and store your content solely to provide and improve the Service.

7. Subscription and Payment

Certain features may require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually). You may cancel at any time through your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We reserve the right to change prices with 30 days' notice. Payments are processed securely through third-party processors; we do not store your full payment card information.

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee availability at all times. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with or without notice.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. AI and Transcription Accuracy

The Service uses AI to transcribe audio. Transcriptions may contain errors. You acknowledge that accuracy depends on audio quality and context, and you are responsible for reviewing and correcting transcriptions as needed. We are not liable for consequences resulting from transcription errors.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Hey Steno, its affiliates, and their officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any rights of another.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other legal notices published on the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and Hey Steno regarding the use of the Service.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in the applicable jurisdiction.
